Susanne APGAR
Susanne Apgar creates meticulously rendered oil paintings that explore the intersection of psychology, perception, and the natural world. With precise figurative technique, she carefully selects elements of natural beauty and rearranges them into layered, narrative compositions that reveal deeper meaning and psychological resonance.
Born in New Jersey and raised in Montreal, Apgar brings a tri-regional perspective to her practice, dividing her time between Naples, Florida, Vancouver Island, and Toronto. Her work has been exhibited in over 30 international shows across the United States, Canada, and Australia, including Corey Helford Gallery (Los Angeles), Modern Eden Gallery (San Francisco), Haven Gallery (New York), La Luz de Jesus Gallery, Flower Pepper Gallery, and Paradigm Gallery.
Apgar’s distinctive voice draws from a B.A. in Psychology and studies in Illustration and Design at Dawson College and Fine Arts at Concordia University. This foundation, paired with her accomplished career in commercial illustration and scenic painting for television and film, informs the narrative depth and immersive quality of her studio work. Her paintings are held in private collections worldwide.
